Stephanie White Psychotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in Bristol and Bath

Psychotherapy

I am a psychotherapist in training at Bath Centre For Psychotherapy and Counselling. The course is accredited by the UKCP and the MA is validated by Middlesex University. It is a long, postgraduate training over many years, combining rigorous academic and experiential learning. The orientation is Humanistic and Integrative and we are encouraged to form our own synthesis as therapists.

I am in my fifth year of training.

Uniquely, I believe, BCPC helps its students set up in private practice as an integral part of the training. In order to work as therapists we need to know ourselves-weekly personal psychotherapy is a requirement; I have been with my own therapist for over ten years and have a further three years’ experience of personal therapy in different settings.

As a trainee psychotherapist registered with the UKCP, I adhere to both the UKCP and BCPC Code of Ethics. I receive regular individual and group supervision and have professional indemnity insurance.

I am also a student member of BACP.

Before setting up in private practice I did my student placement at the SWAN Project in Bristol. This charity specialises in a non-twelve step approach to alcohol addiction and substance abuse. I have also worked with clients who have a history of child sexual abuse.

As a psychotherapist in training I am able to offer competitive, low cost and affordable fees, well below market rates; please contact me for details. Sessions last for fifty minutes and are weekly. I do charge for cancellations; if you are ill I will try and offer an alternative session in the same week, although cannot guarantee to be able to do so. For booked ahead absences such as holidays I offer four weeks annually at half fee, although sometimes we can make up the missed sessions in the weeks either side.

CBT/REBT

My training is with the College of Cognitive Behavioural Therapies, based in London, where I am in the process of submission for the final part of my qualification. The course is accredited with the National Counselling Society, and on completion, I will be registered with that body. I am also working towards accreditation with AREBT (the leading organisation for REBT in the UK) and BABCP and, in the future, a listing on the CBT register. I am a student member of both AREBT and BABCP and adhere to their Codes of Ethics.

I receive individual supervision and have professional indemnity insurance.
